“Oops” doesn’t quite say it.
Yahoo has apologized for an epically terrible typo in a tweet – dropping the N-bomb from their finance account – but the internet isn’t letting them off the hook easily.
The tweet went out late Thursday night. It was supposed to read, “Trump wants a much bigger navy: Here’s how much it’ll cost.” Instead, the social media guy/gal accidentally hit "n" instead of "b", and, well, see for yourself:
It took Yahoo a full 20 minutes to realize their mistake, which, on the internet, is an eternity. They eventually deleted it and within another, very long hour, they apologized for the misstep:
But the meme train was already rolling. Twitter is a strange, cruel, and occasionally funny place, and no time was wasted criticizing and mocking Yahoo’s faux pas:
On top of that, the hashtag #niggernavy promptly exploded, further building on a joke that lasted most of the night:
