Now THAT’s a proper tribute!
D.L. Hughley and George Lopez just got matching “Darkness” tattoos to commemorate their late friend Charlie Murphy.
Charlie passed recently at the age of 57 after a long battle with cancer. The funeral was held in NYC, and the two comedians made an apparently impromptu decision to get their hands inked with Murphy’s famous nickname.
The “Darkness” story itself is legendary, as it was shared by Charlie himself on The Chappelle Show years and years ago. Rick James was responsible for giving the moniker to Murphy, as the sketch team hilariously acts out below:
Murphy’s memorial service was a star-studded affair, and both Lopez and Hughley shared images from the service:
A proper send-off to a comic legend. #RIPDarkness
